CPTED Security Design Solutions
As per ISO 22341:2020, Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) is the process for analyzing and assessing crime and security risks to guide development, urban design, site management, and the use of the built environment in order to reduce crime and the fear of crime, and to promote and improve public health, quality of life, and sustainability.
CPTED is most effective when it is incorporated during the planning and design stages of a project to save on future costs related to the security program enhancement such as additional security infrastructure, manpower, and operational security measures. At this stage, security risks can be identified and addressed before construction begins.
At Carverisk, we integrate CPTED principles into projects during the earliest stages of design. This allows organizations to identify vulnerabilities, assess security risks, and address them through practical design recommendations before they become expensive operational challenges.
Was CPTED not considered during your original design stage? That's not a problem at Carverisk; we can still review the current environment and propose practical enhancements to improve the overall security program. We believe in setting the right balance between security and business, whereby a facility does not need to look or feel like a fortress to be secure. We understand that buildings, public spaces, commercial environments, and customer-facing facilities must remain welcoming. The objective is to create environments where people feel safe, risks are reduced, and security is supported naturally through design.
What do we offer for you to achieve CPTED:
- Security survey (CPTED related)
- Security zoning considerations
- Visibility, lighting, and natural surveillance recommendations
- Territorial reinforcement recommendations
- Access control and movement flow review
- Design improvement recommendations
Carverisk helps clients identify security risks within the built environment and develop practical design recommendations that support safety, protection, operational efficiency, and a positive user experience.
